Everlasting Memory is a Chronicle chapter in Honkai Impact 3rd.
Storyline Mode[ | ]
Birth[ | ]
A girl opens her eyes to an unknown environment, an unknown self. She can hear Otto Apocalypse's voice which referred to her as A-310. The girl asks if that's her name, surprising her creator as he wasn't expecting her to have consciousness just yet.
A-310 is faced with a rather simple task - fight. If she wins and completes Otto's trial, he'll properly introduce himself to her and give her an actual name. Losing, however, means death.
Empty Chambers[ | ]
A-310 sustains heavy injuries to her arm while fighting a Chariot. Otto's occupied with her performance analysis and appears unfazed by the girl's pleas for help, planning to have her pain receptors adjusted later. A-310 is soon to realize that she didn't need his help as her wound starts healing on its own. After all, A-310's a clone of the mightiest Schicksal warrior, Kallen Kaslana, and the Honkai Beast with extreme regenerative skill, Vishu. While she may not be able to grow past the physical age of 12, the future appears bright to the girl who has yet to have a name of her own.
Soul[ | ]
Continued battle with monsters increases A-310's combat capabilities. Knowing herself even just a little bit more gives her courage. Her behavior piques Otto's interest who compares her to Kallen. The girl finds warmth in his words, a reaction unlike those of the other clones. As if he was joking, Otto wishes Kallen's souls would reside inside A-310. At the very least, for A-310 to have a soul is what he sincerely hopes for.
Elegy[ | ]
A-310 is nearing the end of her trial, her last opponent not so different from herself - A-303, the only other survivor of Otto's cruel experiment. By her prowess, A-310 defeats A-303 and by her kindness, she spares A-303's life. Otto again wonders if perhaps Kallen's soul isn't in A-310's body but dismisses the thought as it is not scientifically provable.
Having completed the trial, A-310 gains a human name. Having grown fond of her, Otto adopts her as his granddaughter into House Apocalypse. From now on, the lab-grown girl shall be known as Theresa Apocalypse.
First Blood[ | ]
Some time passes. Theresa, now a B-rank Valkyrie, heads out to help a Far East Branch squad that spotted a giant Honkai Beast codenamed Parvati. The squad leader, Kali, guides Theresa and warns her of upcoming danger, advising her to retreat if necessary. While Theresa sees it as a kind gesture, Kali's intentions might have been different as she expected Schicksal to send elite forces and not a child.
Interlude[ | ]
Theresa's contacted by Otto who wanted to check on her. After adopting her into House Apocalypse, Otto permitted Theresa to become a Valkyrie despite not fully understanding her motives, as her life could be so much easier if she decided to stay away from the battlefield. However, Theresa is simply happy to be of help to others. Knowing that she's fighting alongside others only makes her conviction grow.
As this is her first mission, Otto personally checked her equipment, made sure she has her favorite bitter melon juice and made sure the main target is a low-level Honkai Beast. Fully prepared and fearless, Theresa proceeds further.
Mutation[ | ]
Kali's squad locates Parvati, but the beast turns out to be more dangerous than expected. As the communication with the squad from the Far East Branch cuts off, Theresa's ordered by Otto to immediately retreat. Their intel was wrong and Kali's squad isn't equipped to come out of the encounter victoriously even with Theresa's help. Otto's new plan is to launch an atomic missile to kill the beast as the Far East squad stalls for time. Theresa can't agree to such a drastic solution and ignores the order to retreat, planning on rescuing the Valkyries.
Blessing[ | ]
Theresa manages to find the Valkyrie squad just in time. Propelled by a voice in her heart that tells her to protect everyone, she joins the battle despite being told by Kali her sacrifice would be in vain, and the beast is miraculously defeated, concluding Theresa's first real encounter with Honkai in the outside world.
Enlightenment[ | ]
Years passed. The Second Eruption took the lives of many, including that of Cecilia Schariac who was Theresa's dearest friend and whose loss still affects her greatly. Cecilia was a Valkyrie and to Otto, her sacrifice in a battle against Honkai is only natural. Following the event, Kiana, Cecilia's and Siegfried Kaslana's daughter whom Theresa considers her niece, is kidnapped by Otto to study Kaslana's genes.
As of now, Theresa has betrayed Schicksal and attempts to buy the still-kicking Siegfried enough time to rescue Kiana by battling Schicksal's forces on her own. While doing so, she's called by Otto who tells her to stop their plan, something he considers just a farce. Theresa uses the occasion to again announce her pledge of protecting the lives of others.
Concerned[ | ]
Having done her part, Theresa retreats but fails to contact Siegfried to confirm if their plan succeeded. Otto breaks the silence to inform her that Siegfried's tailed by his forces. Theresa only grows angrier at Otto and that reminds him of how Kallen also used to condemn some of his actions.
Compromise[ | ]
Theresa reaches the location Siegfried was last said to be at but doesn't find him there. Otto reports that Schicksal caught up to him and while he managed to escape, Kiana was re-captured, albeit wounded. Otto once more gives Theresa a chance to return to Schicksal and in exchange, he'll guarantee Kiana's safety. Theresa complies.
While logging the event, Otto asks himself why would Siegfried also attempt to rescue K-423, Kiana's clone. K-423 escaped together with Siegfried which leads Otto to believe that Anti-Entropy, an organization that opposes Schicksal, may have been involved.
File[ | ]
Over a month has passed. Otto logs a record stating that while Theresa agreed to stay with Schicksal, she requested to be transferred to its Far East Branch where she plans to build a school for Valkyries who will value their lives more than orders coming from above. Otto laughs at the idea but allows it nonetheless as the school known as St. Freya would later indeed be built there by Theresa.
Void[ | ]
A log written by Otto at an unknown date states that A-310 was the only one out of 260 test subjects with full cognitive ability i.e. the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, and learn. He feels Kallen in her but refuses to fully believe A-310 is Kallen's reincarnation as he has no means to prove that claim.
While science lacks answers on the topic of souls, the guiding force behind Honkai may have them as the Previous Era featured a Herrscher of Death whose record states she had the ability to manipulate souls. By now, the Current Era has only seen 2 Herrschers. Otto's fully willing to wait until the right Herrscher appears and even protect Honkai for as long as needed for him to get the answer he desires.
