Suggestion to show shop price conversion to asterite[]

Sometimes it is hard to determine what in the shop gives the most value for your currency, and I think it might be nice to show an asterite value for every item in the shop if applicable. For example, Battle Arsenal:

  • Smelted Core (24 gold pin): 25 asterite/pin
  • Advanced Skill Material (14 gold pin): 28.5 asterite/pin
  • 5x SC Metal (40 gold pin): 30 asterite/pin
  • 5x SS Imaginion (40 gold pin): 25 asterite/pin
  • 2x Phase Shifter (48 gold pin): 25 asterite/pin
  • Homi Chest (13 gold pin): 27.4 asterite/pin
  • 150x Normal Crystal Core (30 gold pins): 25 asterite/pin

You could big brain this to get the average value of each currency (e.g. random values here: 26 asterite/pin, 10 asterite/ranger cred, 5000 asterite/ancient willpower) and so people know the relative worth of each currency.

Anyways, if you guys haven't thought about this, then this information is probably not important for 99% of people and there's no point in doing it.

Platapoop (talk) 07:22, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

I like what you're going for, but I don't think it's a function the wiki should maintain. There's a lot of places that this would apply to, and updating all of those pages would be an absolute nightmare. You might wanna try perhaps doing something like this in a Google Spreadsheet for folks to share on Reddit or the official Discord server though! Namwin (talk) 12:02, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Converting missing image files into links[]

Recently, after I updated a few Valkyrie pages (Fu Hua, Seele, and Yae Sakura) to change the names of the valks into hyperlinks for their pages, Namwin changed the blank pics into links for them instead. I would have done this myself, but don't know how to.

I'm wondering if someone can go through and do the same for the new weapons/skills. It would make navigation easier for general users. Say I want to read up on Azure Empyrea's skills, it's a hassle to do so without being able to click her skills. Requiring users to go into her leader (or passive), and then using the tabs to get the section they want. Would be easier if we could just click the skill section we want directly, even if there is no picture file there.

Side note: if I'm able to take a high resolution screenshot of various missing pictures here (such as Path to Acheron) can those be used? They would be cropped down from a 3040x1440 resolution

Edit: just realized the tabs are there anyways, forget the part about the skills (though it would still be nice), the weapons are higher priority in my opinion.

Elesteberg (talk) 01:13, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

The reason we haven't been doing too much for images was because we've been trying to get in contact with miHoYo about allowing us to grab the images, but it's been a way slower process than we'd hoped. I'm hoping some time within the next patch cycle we'll be back to having all the images available. Namwin (talk) 01:47, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Merge with the Houkai wiki[]

Hello, since the two wikis (Houkai fandom and Honkai) have been merged now, are we allowed to move stuff from there here? So much stuff here is missing and I want to start adding the Evangelion stuff so it is not lost. SimeAi (talk) 15:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Definitely! Feel free to move things over that are missing! I'm still waiting to hear whether we can include the Evangelion stuff on the wiki, since we have Official status I'm not sure if we have to follow any copyright agreements at this time. Some stuff is already present though, the gear and Valkyrie. Lestan (talk) 19:22, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
Hello, I notice that some charaters' Heros Wikis have more information than in this Honkai Wiki and Houkai Wiki, while some were founded recently and might reference something in Moegirlpedia(CN)? Are we allowed to reference to or translate from other site if we get permition of those editors? Shuangye (talk) 09:25, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
I've actually been in talks with merging with the lore wiki (https://honkai-impact-3rd-archives.fandom.com/) to get more information for the characters onto the wiki. Sourcing from official material, like they do there, is where information on this wiki comes from. While those sources may have sourced from official sources, you wouldn't be doing that yourself. If you can insert accurate information, go for it! Lestan (talk) 07:57, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
I have the go ahead for Eva collab info, some restrictions on it though. Screenshots are allowed, player recorded video is and player typed out interpretation of the story is fine (so you can't just pull the text from the game, you have to put it into your own words). Beyond that, anything else currently in game is fair game and all the events/supplies as well from the collab. This means we can actually list Asuka among the other valkyries, yay! Feel free to transition things over though, let me know how I can help! Lestan (talk) 08:18, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Squashing bugs on Fandom[]

Hello there!

I wanted to draw your attention to a 2 week quality of life bug fixing project we’re undertaking as we work through a ton of great feedback we got about the new unified experience we unveiled at Community Connect last weekend. This work will focus on bugs which haven’t risen to critical fix levels while the engineering teams have been heads down on the unified experience work, like features not quite working the way they’re intended or the way they used to on the legacy platform.

You can read more about it in this blog, but what I’m specifically reaching out about is seeing if you have any particular bugs that are really annoying but not site breaking and may not have been reported yet. We have an opportunity to get bugs like that triaged and incorporated into this project, so if that’s the case, please send me everything you can about the bug(s), including steps to reproduce them and any other relevant information.

This is your opportunity to get a quick fix to everyday annoyances while the teams are in full bug squashing mode, so let me know quickly! --Pcj (talk) 16:36, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Columbus stigma set[]

Hello. I was thinking about ways to add this unique set to wiki for a few days and wasn't able to decide which one will be better. Right now i'm choosing between:

  • Create a separate page named "Columbus" and add notes about compatibility (mix match) with original limited Children set.
  • Add more Tabs to already existing Children page. It'll look something like this.

I'll will be really glad to hear more opinions and suggestions. --MagisterX (talk) 21:58, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Creating a page for Columbus is the better option. I've been debating moving Children to its own section ("Event") like they did in-game since the set isn't obtainable outside of the Evangelion crossover. Having Columbus exist under Children would make it harder to find and future players may never know Children exists, which would make it kind of hard to find Columbus. Definitely will want to mention somewhere that you can mix and match the sets, but I think that would fit better on the Children set, as, again, new players won't have to worry about Children since it isn't obtainable. Bug squashing follow-up and the new Fandom skin[]

Hello,

I'm checking in after last month's bug squashing notice with the conclusion of our efforts - 206 bugs were squashed. For more information see https://community.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:MisterWoodhouse/Bug_Squashing_Week_2_Roundup

I also want to draw your attention to another announcement regarding Fandom's new look. Please look at https://community.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:MisterWoodhouse/Introducing_FandomDesktop,_the_new_look_and_feel_for_desktop_users and let me know your thoughts, positive or negative. --Pcj (talk) 18:18, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
I think it looks nice and I've been getting people asking for an update to the look of the wiki recently, so this is good timing! However, my concern is the amount of work to make everything already on the wiki presentable again. Will the transition be relatively seamless or will there be a lot of work involved in redoing pages? Lestan (talk) 18:49, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Rank up skills[]

Can a section be added for rank up skills and the fragment cost. The cost can be calculated for those that know SP and awakened rank up costs, but it would be helpful for other players.

If this requires editing the main template, then it would be a good opportunity to fix the layout that Fandom Desktop made.

Stigmata DPL broken[]

I noticed that there were no stigmata listed in Ignites Enemies; this seems to be because the DPL queries try to refer to uses of Template:Stigmata Page, which doesn't exist; stigmata pages instead use Template:Stigmata Entry. All the other Useful Lists pages seem to have the same problem. Valyana (talk) 14:45, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

These pages have been using undocumented templates which I didn't know about prior to your message. The Category:Stigmata_Page_Includes which stores them isn't a subcategory so it's not connected via the category tree to anything either. The Ignites Enemies page seems to work after updating the parameters to match the new template, will check other pages soon. Thanks for the heads up. Hakazumi (talk) 19:43, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
Seems like all affected pages are fixed now. Let me know if I missed any or something else's missing. Hakazumi (talk) 20:04, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

DPL List Missing Entries[]

Stigmata lists look good, thanks. But it looks like the weapon lists are incomplete as well; I tried to adjust Muramasa Bloodlust so it would show up in Bleeds Enemies but seem to have been unsuccessful, I don't know what the magic is to get it on the list. I put lists of some missing weapons on Talk:Bleeds Enemies and Talk:Ignites Enemies. Valyana (talk) 21:18, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi again. I left you a comment on Talk:Bleeds Enemies shortly after you made yours, please do check it. As for the Muramasa Bloodlust edit - it was totally correct. As explained on the Wiki Updating Guide DPL just needs to be purged to show most recent results (it takes around 2 hours to update on its own on average iirc). If you check Bleeds Enemies now, it'll show the katana alongside other weapons. Hakazumi (talk) 21:23, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Rank Up skills quick win[]

Hey, it's my first time using Fandom and so far it seems to be quite restrictive in terms of what I can edit without going through a lot of process to get access to the stuff I need. The change I would like to propose is that in Battlesuit Skills template there is a unlock field that is used to render the star rank image for a skill unlock. e.g.

|passiveTopUnlock = S1

I just want to add one extra field (well, more than one, cause it's actually one extra field for each of top/middle/bottom, times the number of skill tabs which is six, so 18 fields) for putting upgrade stars like so:

|passiveTopUpgrade = S3

This way we can see what skills receive an upgrade from ranks which solves the request to display rank up/constellation information. But afaik I can't access the html template which will need to render these new fields. It's a relatively simple change that probably takes 10 minutes and I'd really like to do this.

I would like to note though, some skills have two upgrades, so it would need to support a comma separated list like so:

|passiveTopUpgrade = S3,SS3

And in the html template it will need to render the csvs within a loop. That should be pretty trivial but if Fandom doesn't play nicely with that worst case is we just introduce two fields instead of one (passiveTopUpgrade1, passiveTopUpgrade2, afaik we don't need more than two - but it will be 36 fields total).

As a competitive player myself it's very helpful to know what ranks give what. While knowing how the numbers change between ranks is extremely important (wiki only shows the numbers at max rank), I'd consider it a nice to have since it is not as trivial of a change. But displaying an extra one or two img tags with a small label like "Upgrade at:" is definitely an easy win. It is also backwards compatible since it is only adding new information, so all the current pages can stay as is, and the extra upgrade information can be added gradually by the community over time.

Thanks, Radicre (talk) 01:27, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

The main reason why the wiki only stores maxed values is because the game doesn't provide any way to check skill values at different levels like how it is in weapon or stigmata collection book. There is Valkyrie category inside collection book but it is inaccessible even on CN or the beta servers. The Chinese wiki on BBS has rank-up priority and copying that would be easier than gathering values on all skill levels since we can't do that even during beta (all older Valks come maxed). Some Valks have rank-up menu that's a bit more fancy and maybe we could get upgrade levels from it but doesn't really solve the issue of missing values associated with those skill levels. Hakazumi (talk) 07:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
I think there might be some miscommunication here. I recognize putting the max values for each rank is hard (that's why I put as a nice to have cause it's difficult) but what I'm actually asking for is to have a new label to display the ranks at which the skills receive an upgrade. That lets viewers tell which constellations affect what skills. It doesn't show the the actual values or amounts, but just knowing what skills are getting boosted from a rank is already handy when trying to do a quick lookup (it also shows that the max value shown is not something S0 can have since it indicates that it upgrades at a later rank... that might be a handy side-effect). A lot of people had to log in to the game just to check what a particular rank up gives and having that on the wiki would be handy: e.g. HoS S2 gives more crit dmg, HH S1 gives her more breach; just putting these Upgrade at S2 and Upgrade at S1 labels next to the respective skills is very useful contextual information. I always come here to check these things if I don't already know them yet except... it's not here! And someone told me to just go do it myself since I'm a software engineer lol. Let me know your thoughts Radicre (talk) 05:09, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
Yea, that seems a lot easier to do. It's not really unusual for people to overestimate how much info we have access to, kinda guessed it was the case here too; Working on a wiki is pretty much just front-end, very limited too since Fandom doesn't just allow all MediaWiki extensions you ask for, let alone let you design any features (so no matter how much we'd like to have Fandom's commends or discussions section, that we simply can't get as HGW, we're not allowed to just code an alternative ourselves). JS and lua can be helpful but won't be necessary in this case. Most things on wikis in general can be done with few lines of wikitext; I'm currently on the other side of the country and editing on laptop isn't most comfortable due to small screen size, but I'll try to get it done once I'm back home in around a month if it's still not added before that. Hakazumi (talk) 19:38, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
For now, I added a rank-up overview that includes a short list of non-base skills with their unlock information, since we don't have upgrade info yet as of now. Once we do, it'll be added next to skill descriptions as well as the overview. Hakazumi (talk) 18:15, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
Upgrade info is available in game in the rank-up/constellations menu for a valk (if they have it) right? Or did you mean something else? Thanks for doing this btw! Much appreciated Radicre (talk) 03:30, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

Patch note sources and using CN patch notes to fill in the missing/ambiguous GLB patch notes[]

I've noticed the lack of patch note sources for anything before version 3.3 Cyberangel. Could we use the CN patch notes to fill in the missing data? As far as I can see, 3.3 GBL patch notes match the 3.3 CN patch notes in terms of content released. Now, granted, I was using google translate and the CN wiki on Mihoyo's website to get an idea of what was released when. But, the lack of any official patch note sources makes it hard to trust anything written for versions before 3.3 and inconsistent with versions 3.3 and after that have sources.

Fly2555 (talk) 18:53, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

The inconsistency stems from differences between the different versions. Global was heavily behind when it released, even compared to the SEA version, and would skip a lot of content. There are events, generally smaller ones, that we just never got. You're better of talking about that with long-term community members about it than me as I started with Nyx release and myself rely heavily on 2nd hand accounts. One example I can give that caused me some headache is that Yae's Birthday stigma actually wasn't released until its de-facto debut in one of the 2021 time capsules. The CN event that rewarded the stig wasn't mentioned in any of the posts on social media from that time and no one talked about the event or the stig in the discord. And the reason why there are no links is because the official site has migrated thrice, as far as I know, and the fist iteration of the official site has been pretty much lost. If you check social media posts from 2018-2020, they may link the old posts on the official site but clicking them will redirect you to the main page instead and while some are present in the wayback machine, the pages archived are blank, which means that archiving them didn't really go well and isn't useful. It happens sometimes and I honestly am not sure why and how much of that is the fault of the internet archives and how much is on MHY. The only reliable way to get old patch notes would be going after old VODs, but have fun discerning if they're for SEA or global. We don't think it'll be fun which is why no one did it so far. We can consider adding CN patch notes and maybe try to add a section noting differences between the global version and the CN version (I'm sure some people would like SEA to be included as well but none of us plays there so there's that), but CN patch notes cannot and will not be used to supplement for the missing global version info. Hakazumi (talk) 19:27, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
I see your point about not replacing information because it is confusing. Primarily I just want to have the CN info there as a point of reference because of all the confusion. As far as content, I'm confident I've reasoned out the major features of each version. But I'm not confident enough in my ability to try and translate the finer details of the patch notes. Transcripts missing for most of the main story.[]

Basically, does the Wiki have a standard here or can I just copy down the text as i replay? BlitzerGod (talk) 18:54, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

Yes, it does. It's not archived here and requires tools you might not have access to (that aren't OCR) that I may not be able to share for various reasons, so please use your time on something else if possible. We're currently experiencing some technical difficulties related to video encoding we've previously chosen and we're still considering our options. The scripts will be getting archived back again after all the relevant files are re-uploaded and templates fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hakazumi (talk) 20:01, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
